Volunteers are the heart of our organisation. Your skills could be just what we need.
We have a fantastic team of volunteers who are involved in every aspect of our organisation. By volunteering with us, you’ll be making a big difference to people in Newcastle who need our support the most. You’ll also meet new friends, learn new skills and be part of something great.
We are recruiting for the following volunteer roles:
We are looking for help at our main warehouse where food donations, large and small are weighed, sorted and stored before being sent to our west end warehouse when they are made into food parcels to be given to people in need.
Working closely with our warehouse team, we are looking for licensed and experienced van drivers to help us deliver, collect and distribute donations.
Distribution Centre Volunteer
We have two locations where we meet clients and give out food parcels. Informal chats with clients over a cup of tea, discuss their situation and signpost to further support are all part of the role. We are keen to find volunteers at our Venerable Bede Church location for Mondays mornings in particular. You can find out the opening times here – https://newcastlewestend.foodbank.org.uk/locations/
Donation Station Volunteer
We need a vibrant volunteer presence at our Grainger Market donation hub – could you offer some time on a weekly basis to process donations, chat to the public and provide further information regarding our services? We open 9am – 5:30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays – short ‘shifts’ are available.
